MSC Air Cargo selects Hactl for Hong Kong handling

MSC Air Cargo has selected Hactl to provide cargo handling services on its recently launched flights to Hong Kong. The carrier first operated a Boeing 777 freighter flight from its Milan Malpensa hub to Hong Kong through its alis cargo airlines subsidiary in july but has since rebranded the airline as MSC Air Cargo and confirmed Hactl will be its handler at the Asian airport. The service will operate into Hong Kong three times per week. The carrier has also been running flights to Hong Kong through its crewing, maintenance and insurance (CMI) deal with operator Atlas Air since December 2022. MSC took a majority stake acquisition in AlisCargo Airlines in August last year and subsequently invested in 100% of the carrier this year. The carrier was rebranded as MSC Air Cargo on September 5, according to Hactl. MSC Air Cargo chief executive Jannie Davel said: “We are excited about the potential for our newly-expanded Hong Kong operation, and are very pleased to extend the successful historic collaboration between Hactl and ourselves. “Their extensive facilities for freighter operators and their clear focus on service quality will provide us with a strong base from which to grow our business.” During Covid, AlisCargo Airlines operated up to 20 Boeing 777 “preighters” per month into Hong Kong, with the flights handled by Hactl. Hactl executive director – commercial and business development Joanna Li said: “We are delighted to welcome back an old friend under its new name, and with its greatly increased capacity. We wish the new MSC Air venture every success, and look forward to playing a key role in its successful development in the Asia market.”
